I sent this as an email to my mom and sisters last night, but it makes me giggle so much to look at the photos that I really need to share it more broadly. OK, there aren’t many readers of my blog yet, so REALLY my motivation is I wanted to see the photo of my sister in the slide show.
Risa is a very funny girl. She is funny not just because she makes me laugh — she is clever and self-deprecating and weird and sometimes gross and a keen observer of random — but also because she is completely neurotic and does not deny it in, she embraces her crazy as part of her persona. Anyway, this photo of her on her birthday at my mom’s has made me giggle for years:
Who makes a face like that? Risa does, in between checking that nobody touches her son without using hand sanitizer, and worrying that global warming could come to a head TODAY. There’s plenty more where that came from.
Anyway, the reason for this post isn’t to just share a wacky photo of my sister. No, I was reminded of this photo thanks to my mom, who has a different brand of crazy from Risa. She really, really, really, really likes dogs, to the point where we sometimes wonder what would happen if she had to save one of us or one of her dogs from a burning building and could choose only one. A Sophie’s Choice as they say. I’m pretty sure she’d answer that she’d save the dogs first because we’re old enough to save ourselves. Point is we have canine siblings. Which might explain why this visitor to my mom’s house got to wear Risa’s birthday hat…
(Sigh.)

Please ask your mom why my newly-diagnosed diabetic dog pees on her bedding and sleeps on her pee pads.
Also tell your sister that no one touches my computer without using hand sanitizer and that I worry that solar flares might come to a head TODAY.
There’s plenty more where that came from.
Super nice blog, Rache. I heard WordPress was really hard to use. You must be good at this stuff.
Hey, I hear pee pads are comfortable, maybe we should test drive them. Like that astronaut who wore the diapers. Thank you for the nice feedback
I think I love Risa. But not as much as you. Or my dog.
As long as I rate above the dog. Or do I?
